This job brief has been one of the most fun I have had the pleasure of working on. I love creating statement prints and this was the perfect project to play with colour and bold design.
The new Peppers 5 Star Hotel at Docklands in Melbourne is super modern and has an almost grunge and pop art feel to it. You only have to see the front of it to get the picture:
The interior designers brief asked for bold, on-trend colours so black and yellow was decided upon as they certainly pack a colour statement punch. There was also pops of gold/yellow in the buildings exterior artwork that were cohesive with this palette.
For the feature rug in the lobby I went with a modern geometric design. I had loads of fun working with the print on the beautiful high back chairs. Another classic geometric design in black and white to keep it simple but bold and on-trend. I decided to throw some purple cushions in as the pop colour to compliment the black and yellows. My other favourite part of the project was creating a bespoke “map” pattern of the Docklands area that could be used on upholstery, and also on other surfaces. We ended up using it on the glass bench tops in the hotel rooms also. This was my design board mockup:
And the completed project pics are below. Stunning if I do say so myself 🙂
